- Ling Huawei, Caijing’s senior reporter, received “Honorable Mention” by the Kurt Schork Awards in International Journalism in 2002.
- Cao Haili, Caijing’s senior reporter, won the WHO Journalism Fellowship Program for 2003. The Fellowship is designed for seven journalists from around the world and Haili was chosen to represent Asia.
- Caijing’s SARS team was Chosen as a finalist in the 2003 competition for ICIJ (International Consortium of Investigative Journalist) Awards for Outstanding International Investigative Reporting;
- Caijing’s SARS team received”Honorable Mention” by the Kurt Schork Awards in International Journalism in 2004.
- Hu Yifan, Caijing’s reporter, has been selected as runner-up in Pro-poor Sustainable Economic Growth for the 2004 Developing Asia Journalism Awards hosted by Asian Development Bank Institute;
- Ye Weiqiang, a Caijing editor ,won the Swedish International Development Authority (SIDA) Fellowship for 2004
- Zhu Xiaochao, a Caijing reporter, won the Award of Reporting HIV/AIDS run by Reuters Foundation and UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA)
- Yu Ning, a Caijing reporter, won the first Laura Cha Scholarship for 2004
After reviewed the report, Wu Jinglian, a well-known Chinese economist, pointed out that Chinese stock market should fight against illegal transactions harshly.
In early December 2000, Zhou Xiaochuan, chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, publicly praised the `` Behind the Investment Fund Black Curtain ’’ a cover story published in Caijing, disclosing market manipulations and illegal transactions at funds market..
From October 2000 to March 2001, Caijing’s `` Behind the Investment Fund Black Curtain ’’ has been widely reprinted and commented by many overseas media including Hong Kong Economic Journal, a Hong Kong-based daily in Chinese, South China Morning Post, Hong Kong’s leading English daily, Reuters and the Associated Press.
In February 2001, Caijing published a cover story, “Arch Manipulator Lu Liang,” targeting widespread manipulation in domestic stock markets and revealing the techniques used by inside traders. The story aroused public awareness and was reprinted by several domestic and international newspapers.
The Wall Street Journal’s interviewed Caijing’s editor, Hu Shuli, after the story broke and published a story titled - “Editor Pushes Limits in China.”
The South China Morning Post reprinted the story “Arch Manipulator Lu Liang” and praised Caijing magazine as “the mainland’s most respected financial journal.”
In August 2001, Caijing magazine published “Yin guang xia,” an investigative story that uncovered an unprecedented fraud case by a listed company. After the story broke, the CSRC launched an
investigation into the company. It alerted the public to the credibility problems of several listed companies and intermediary agencies. The author of the story, Huawei Ling, received an honorable mention award from the “Kurt Schork Award in International Journalism.” She was the first Asian journalist to receive an honorable mention.
In November 2001, Caijing magazine published “Dissecting Green Cool,” raising serious doubts about the operations of the hot HK P share stock. As a result, many P share companies were investigated for fraud.
In February 2002, Caijing ran the cover story “Who is Regulating the Banks?” providing details of arrest of the Bank of China’s former CEO, Wang Xuebin.
In November 2002, Caijing’s cover story, “Where Should the 10 Trillion of Government-Owned Equity Go?”, and thoroughly analyzing the reform of government-owned equity – a chief policy issue at China’s 16th Party Congress.
February 2003 saw the spread of SARS on a large scale in Guangdong province. Caijing began detailed coverage of SARS in the February 20 issue. From the end of March, Caijing began a series of systematic and in-depth reports of the status of the SARS virus, and beginning in May released four special “weekly SARS report” issues. Caijing devoted 300,000 words to SARS coverage.

Beginning in 2004, Caijing organizes an annual yearly conference in China, “The World in ____ Conference: Prospects and Predictions.” The conference takes advantages of the resources of Caijing magazine to examine the prospects of the world economy. The conference examines worldwide economic trends with a global perspective while remaining firmly grounded in a Chinese background. The conference serves as an interactive forum for discussion of worldwide economic issues, focusing on the core issues in the year to come. The conference is an ideal venue for policymakers, business leaders, the media and elites from all fields to reach an understanding of these critical issues.
The first conference took place in Beijing in February 2004. The main topic of the conference was the global strategic development of financial and capital markets, energy and resources, and telecoms and IT industries. Panelists discussed how to balance government policy with the demands of the market, while providing insightful analysis of the challenges and opportunities confronting Chinese corporations in 2004. The conference also considered the influence of improvements to systems of social control on the long-term development of China’s economy. The conference was attended by prominent figures from political and economic circles including Huang Mengfu, Wu Jinglian, Zhou Xiaochuan, and Long Yongtu.FINANCE SERIES
